Recorded game formats

Post by KerakFire »

Hi all. This is my first post on the website, just joined the other day, and excited to be surrounded by quality players :) Was wondering though if it is possible to upload the recorded games in .3rec format in addition to .3Yrec. I think the Y has something to do with TAD, which I don't have but I realllyyyyy want to see these games! Is it possible...by means of uploading two copies? Playing using aoe3 regular version, or put on youtube? If not it's ok.

hello there.
No it is not possible to convert replay files. As you correctly guessed, the y stands for the TAD expansion so you need that to view them. You can't magically turn a vanilla aoe3 recorded file into a TAD one or vice versa. You'd even need both expansions (The Warchiefs and The Asian Dynasties), so that you can enable TWC content on TAD.

The majority of our replays are on TAD, ony few are on Vanilla

That's what I was afraid of :( Are there some sources of good "vanilla" recordings that you guys know of?
