Re: Attack mode
Most people refer to truly Ranged Infantry, like skirmishers, xbows, aennas, caçadores, strelets, ckn, cetans, etc when they say RI. At least I do :\

Re: Attack mode
RI is not to be confused with HI, or "Heavy Infantry," which include both hand infantry and musketeers. Even though musketeers carry guns--like pure RI--they also do well against cavalry. Muskets are an oddball, because they technically are both RI and HI, but "pure RI," (skirmisher/archer units) gets a bonus against HI. Hope I didn't totally confuse you there

Just to deepen the confusion, tiger claws, coyotes, rattan shields and some other "fast" hand infantry are called "Light infantry," which are kinda like human cavalry, since they counter RI. ::/
I used to call RI "light infantry" because I've read too many military history books. In those books, light, fast infantry armed with ranged weapons (bows, rifles, slings, rocks etc...) were termed "light infantry," but in AOE3 terms, those are considered "RI," unless they are musketeers, in which case they are both RI and HI (it only took me a year to figure this junk out )

Re: Attack mode
Don't worry, in vanilla it was LI too. But then they wanted to give aztecs cav that wasn't cav so they named it LI because they could run as fast as cav and they ruined up the all the names. Thanks to that you have that beautiful math of sowars, naginatas, etc that have x1.5 vs Infantry and x0.75 vs HI.
Re: Attack mode
Am I the only one who never changes from the default attack mode on cannons? Is using this worthwhile?
