here is what i do :
put 4-5 vills at start on wood till i have around 10 vills and a house
and send ditributism as first card, than it depends on my enemy what i am going to do. vs dutch i make gurka and i ship 4 sowars first than 2nd wood trickle for faster wood gathering for a stable(i prefer 2nd wood trickle above 600w because wood trickle is permanly), than go zams/sowars

while it is true that the 2nd trickle is perma , its affects take time to accumulate which in early colonial can be a problem for iindia being as they are a slower paced civ. the wood crate is better if going for a more eco friendly build nd helps save all that villy seconds gathering the wood for market ups , a 2nd rax/stable , consulate etc
