Several Bots:

First the spiders of the search engines (Google, MSN, Yahpoo etc.) to index the site so u can find everything there
Second Email Harvester who try to find email adresses for Spammers
Third Spam Bots who try to post spam in the forums

Maybe there are some more things, but that are the main reasons

Yeah and the latter is very rare since you have to be a member to post, although you still sometimes get the odd spam post.

Our site has been set up to get the best results from searches, the amount of content added on a regular basis along with our www. address gives us a good ranking in search engines.
Depending on the words and make-up of the search, we tend to come top 10 in relative searches, which is excellent.

Cant you manually insert a web link into google for it to be top?
