My laptop runs like crap. So, I thought I'd check the temp of the cpu....it says 86 degrees C. Seems really really really really high. Anyone got good tips/products for cooling that way down?

Sporting made an interesting post about this a while back, where u could use software to lower the core temp - worked well for me, lowering the temp by 10 - 15 degrees C

That would be really cool if there was software to cool the laptop down. What I used was what nitroz mentioned, just spraying compressed air in the vents and get all the dust out of there. I was honestly really surprised how much crap was trapped in there

Compressed air, additional CPU fans, and making sure your laptop is on a flat surface will help a lot. You can also use a dust vent for a laptop, which filters the air passing through it and leaves the dust residue on the vent, rather than allowing it to settle on the internal components.

Best advice though is to use compressed air not only on the vents, but on the CPU itself (refer to your laptop manual on how to open it up). You can also purchase CPU cooling fans for very little, which can be mounted in various places.

For me I try to keep the side that releases the heat near the edge of a table that way nothing is blocking the air flowing out. Also on hot days i try to keep the fan blowing on the labtop too.
