one of my favorite match ups , played vs zuta



spain *myself* vs germany *zutazuta* on patagonia



i decide on laming schooners to the max. i creep a cdb treasure in discovery and am lucky enough to steal a 75 wood treasure from zuta and kill his explorer. feeling overly confident i decide to do my boom without any army! and soon find out this is a mistake. he pushes with xbow pike and i am able to beat it back with rodelero minute men and wardog. he then ages and i follow suit , almost as soon as i age up he attcks again with skirm, uhlan, wargon and i once again beat him back with rodelero , saved minute men , musket , and some lancer....then mr. doppel shows up!



i won't reveal who wins for this is very much worth the watch and i don't want to spoil the ending

special guest appearances by mr. jaeger and mr. manchu.

every game you play and post, you always write about the treasures obtained by the players in EVERY detail. clearly a treasure fetish :-P

treasures are the only thing to do for first 4 minutes of the game , of course i'm going to mention them

Extremely well played, Dan. Your description was dramatic, but I think you gave Zuta a little too much credit. I felt like he was reeling most of the game. You outplayed him, pure and simple. He didn't touch your dominance on the sea and that was the deciding factor. You could even afford to lose TCs and several vils while still maintaining an economic advantage. You also did the right thing by building muskets. People forget to do that with Spain. And muskets do very, very well against doppels with the ranged attack and hand resistance.

Plus you just had such awesome spammage! Jaegers and Muskets AND manchu??? Talk about pulling cards from your sleeve that no one expects. You also put up a fantastic TC defense at the beginning. First rate, buddy.

And how ironic is it to beat the Germans with Jaegers 8O

lol im glad you guys liked this replay


several parts in this game where i thought of resigning , notably the 3rd time my TC went down. but the sea was proving to be too good to just dismiss as a loss. the saloon i made as an act of desperation to see what i could throw into the mix of a last stand fight. lady luck was kind enough to have jaeger and manchu in there which were the perfect compliment to my musket/rod mass .

if anything , this replay shows that by holding out and not giving up - a loss can be turned into a win
